Tales of Intrigue and the Imagination

Jorge Casuso writes stories that take place in a twilight world between sleep and waking. "The Hidden Hand," a 72,000-word esoteric thriller, is a dreamlike tale of one man's spiritual transformation as he searches for "truth" in a digital world where reality can be easily altered.

The stories are informed by his work as a reporter and national correspondent in Chicago, Los Angeles and Miami, where he covered natural disasters, violent uprisings, the growing homelessness crisis and cutting-edge cultural trends.

His work has received awards for investigative reporting and breaking news coverage. A screenplay version of "The Hidden Hand" was a semi-finalist in the Academy of Motion Pictures' Nicholl Fellowship competition.

"Disorder is merely the order
you are not looking for."

On a snowy Chicago morning at the dawn of the internet, Jack Kamen, a researcher with a keen, methodical mind, is summoned by the newspaper's reclusive editor. His assignment: to find a reporter missing from the paper's undercover Los Angeles bureau.

From a room filled with outdated equipment in an abandoned hotel on the beach, Kamen is sent on assignments to the far reaches of the region, only to find he is following in the missing reporter's footsteps, doing things the man he is searching for has already done.

In the glaring strangeness of Southern California, Kamen's mind starts to fail him, and his body quickly falls apart. His actions seem predestined, as he finds himself trapped in a time loop he can't escape.
